Hey, remember The Factory?
Yeah, The Factory. Many, many magic evenings. None of them very well represented by this video, but I'm not sure what I was expecting, exactly.
I remember one big dark room with intense music, and one slightly less dark room with less intense music and a poorly installed carpet, or something. Anyone remember anything else?

Man, I totally loved that place. It was close enough to my house that I practically used to live there.
Let's see, things I remember...Ska nights on Thursdays, "smart drinks" at the bar, a ratty mattress outside, and a few other things that the statute of limitations probably hasn't run out on yet.
The Grim brothers. Shady, but right now I wish they were still around. Then again, if I went someplace like that now, I'd either be the creepy old guy, or everyone would just assume I was a narc.
I do remember this place, but didn't go there too many times because I think it was after high school...
What I remember more vividly was going to the old "Backdoor" club in 1989 or 1990, out by the airport. Crappy local punk/hardcore bands for $5-- so much fun.
FUCKING MATT GRIM. Oh man I have some bad memories performing at that fuckhole. We got so scammed doing gigs for Matt Grim.
Oh man, what a taste. I think Grim Bros. scammed so many local performers they had to leave town.
In fact, i think I know the guy that made that shitty video of the Factory. I know the music for the video is produced by one of the guys. Hilarious.
You're a performer? How in the world did I miss that?
@help - The Backdoor was also awesome. Memories there include free hamburger night ending my vegetarian phase, and getting a flying knee to the head by a stage diver during someone playing a 7 Seconds cover.
Good times, good times.
"Performer" is a strong word. I try to keep the skeletons in the closet. It's where they should stay in this case.
Well, this is creeping me right the fuck out.
Gals, it's ok. You can own up to your short-lived career as a burlesque dancer. There's no judgment here.
@puaa- (Hope that wasn't my knee!)
The best bands I can specifically recall were BYK, Mean Ugly Guys, and Dana Lynn.
Do you remember a couple years, after the Backdoor closed, someone was booking similar bands at this little basement place on Hotel St., and calling it "Backdoor Night"?
BYK and MUG were always a good time. Are you sure the place downtown was on Hotel Street? I only ever remember going to punk shows in a basement in downtown at that place on Fort Street...what the hell was that called? Was it the Fast Zone?
