A friend of mine in the blogosphere is putting together a roundtable from the websites that cover geekdom to gather opinions on Avatar. Do any of you Pieces of Things bloggers have opinions about it that you'd be willing to share?
I've said this before, but it looks like a cutscene for a game I don't want to play. Early reviews look promising, though; and for the right reasons. I'll see it, and check back here after.
I'm also hopeful. I'm betting that most of the naysayers are just anti to be anti. Not unlike people who are anti-Harry Potter for no reason at all, or, I don't know, Monster Hunter.
In other news, My 3D computer rendering classmates are all excited about this movie. When I say things like "Storywise, it looks like Dances With Wolves in space!" They look at me with incomprehension and say "sto-ree-wize?, What means this "sto-ree-wize?"
spoilerish: So yeah I liked it. It had a solid (but predictable) plot, memorable and multidimensional characters, a few interesting twists, of course great special effects... I'd give it a B, B+. It definitely didn't deserve the hype it got but it also didn't deserve the horrible reviews. James Cameron basically made a Disney movie in space. For what it is it's fun.

Dances With Wolves IN SPACE!
I'd be more excited about it if it weren't for the mountains of hype. This road always leads to disappointment.
I hear Monster Hunter is highly underrated!

I would like to experience the whole three-dee thing. I haven't yet done that.
Hey so I saw it. I'd be down for seeing it again in the threedee experience, if people are going. Plus my schedule is like, totally free. So whenever.

Let's go next week to see the 3-D version! Also, check me out!
