Is that Stuary Smalley?

I bet he's pissed about that little bump in his career. He'd probably be better off if it came out that he was an adulterer or smoked ludes.

Ok, wait. I was just kidding, because I was making jokes. But seriously, this *IS* Stuart Smalley, isn't it?

It is.

I heard someone talk this weekend about the implications for democracy when people start electing entertainers and charismatic populists to public office. Something about folks being frustrated with the entrenchment of power, and said entrenchment acting as a barrier to new blood in the political system. The speaker was suggesting that this is how you get people like Hitler.

While I think I agree, I love Al Franken. I highly recommend his books, especially Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them.

I wonder if Minnesota might be an exception to the general notion that electing celebrities as leaders is dangerous.

After all, Jesse Venture worked out OK right? Maybe Al Franken is truly dedicated to being a good senator.

I will try to provide updates on political shenanigans by Japanese celebrities.
