Well, Mr. I-Dominate-a-Galactic-Empire-with-My-Fleet-of-Space-Battlecruisers, the science of exoplanets is still in its infancy, and "does exist" is still a pretty important state to find a planet in.
Mr. Pony, I believe that Science is heading in the right direction, and that I get a small boner when I hear about planets found with our planet-finding radar. I still get excited. Thing is, though, I've read enough science journals, magazines, and articles to realize that there's just as much hyperbole and claims du grandiose as Us magazine.
I think it just bothers me when I see a hard hitting headline, while at the same time, the content is often misleading. It’s a lunch bag letdown. CNN does that a lot, and the Science community is no different.
"SCIENCE GUY FINDS ANCIENT DINOSAUR"
I get really excited when I see lines like this, because I'm thinking that someone was in the jungles and totally stumbled on an ankleosaurus. But really? Some guy just read about an old dinosaur in a book, found a bone, thought a bout a dinosaur for a day, or some other mundane shit. The headline should have wrote "Some Dude Finds Bone Of Dinosaur" or “Dude Totally Thinks About Dinosaur and Tells Someone”.
By the way, Ruby, my comments in no way reflect my opinion on the importance of *you* reporting this journalism to the POT community. In your headline, you even question the validity of the fact that Science even *found* a planet, never mind tossing Sciences around like, "Earth #2 Found!" or "I Found A Planet Totally Made of Water!"
You're, like, "There was a planet found?" And also, you are like, "Hm? Did they? Did they find a planet? I dunno! YOU read, and YOU make your determination! It is not for me to decide and say so. YOU decide. Science."
I appreciate your honest journalism, is what I am saying. Also, I am saying my negativity isn't directed towards you, but that I recognize that you might have etc., etc.,.
Perhaps I haven't researched water colonization yet. Maybe I haven't, and I know the other races have, and that I might know that there's a high mineral content on that planet, and I have 3 turns left for my research on water planet colonization to complete, and that it will take 2 turns to build the colony ship and another, like, fucking 8 turns to get there.
I've done some psychic research and it turns out this exoplanet is legit. In fact, it's exactly like Earth except more people are left-handed than right handed, and their version of Styx is still really popular.
Sounds like someone is still burned over being bullied by kid scientists back in grade school.
I mean, why discriminate against science? Lots of scientists tell it as it is. Look at Marie Curie. Richard Feynman. Fucking Indiana Jones. They're all about just getting shit done and beating shit up in the name of Science. If Indiana finds a dinosaur bone, you can bet that at least twenty nazis were totally killed in the process, and the bone probably would have either blown up the world or can cure cancer. It's Hollywood that's destroyed his reputation, not HIM, not science. OTHER PEOPLE. He's fucking golden. Don't be an Indiana Jones hater, man.
Every time someone says the word "science" Fugu thinks someone is attacking science. And he rushes to its defense! Isn't science able to handle itself, Fuge? or do you need to protect your precious little science lest it be squashed by things like the big bad media, or perhaps, the intelligent design people?
Actually, now that I think about it, I'd like to talk about Litcube's intergalactic battle fleet too. Can you post some screen shots LC?
I actually did make a post some time ago in regards to my Motherfucking Space Empire (http://piecesofthings.blogspot.com/2007/10/my-motherfucking-empire.html).
I also sent Pony some pictures of my Titan through MSN. My titan was green, because I painted him green. He was fighting a Xenon Q M6 class.
I haven't payed much attention to my space empire lately. But seriously, though, guys don't colonize that planet, ok?

In other words, "we know for a certainty that what we know about this planet is pretty much fuck all."

Mr. pony wishes he dominated a galactic empire with a fleet of space battlecruisers. You can see it on his face.

The Science community is guilty, dudes. Science.

just what are you trying to hide about MOA-2007-BLG-192Lb, litcube? and... why?
Can we just talk about your battle fleet now?

So.. Ignore 2007-BLG-192Lb!

I'd like to see a picture of LC getting burned by kid science bullies as well, if anyone has got one...
I think the main issue here is that Litecube sure is spending a lot of time not talking about his fleet of space battlecruisers.

Dude.
Duuuude.
DuuuuuuuuDEh!
That was like over a year ago!
UPDATES!
It's true. Litcube's Titan was a great big log of a ship. The Xenon didn't have a chance, probably, I don't know what I'm talking about.
