For various reasons (which I cannot divulge) I'm thinking of getting the Grant Morrison run of the X-Fellers. Does anyone have an opinion on its relative worth or disworth?

This is New X-Men we're talking about? For the most part, I found it enjoyable; certainly more so than Morrison's embarrassing run on JLA. Quitely's art is gross, but a lot of fun--although it's fairly sporadic, with lots of mostly decent fill-in jobs, and not enough to sell the thing on that alone. The stories are fairly creative, but the X-Men have kind of been through so much at this point, that a lot of things feel a little re-hashy. Good character interaction, and dialogue. Nice Captain Britain. No bucket fill for you!
Good lord I could have sworn Pony drawed that Cap't Britain. I don't know how you should take that.
I quite like Quitely and enjoyed about 60% of Morrison's run, especially the Riot at Xavier's arc. I liked that they were introducing generational differences, as opposed to a new crop of teens that rebel then go back to the party line.
Thanks, guys. It's actually a christmas present for my wife, who would probably have liked the Joss one way more if only I could have kept it secret till then somehow...
Is she a comic reader then? Hrm. Intriguing. My wife "likes" comics, in that she likes Hellboy and Fables. Otherwise, they are tolerated.
Pretty hard to beat Fables for a rich and fun story that anyone can probably get into.
I actually really enjoyed Chris Claremont and Alan Davis' run on Uncanny X-Men (collected in trades under the title "The New Age"). Very very reminiscent of the Claremont/Byrne run in the '80s (almost self-consciously so). Alan Davis's art makes me think the world is beautiful, and all made out of the same material.
Yeah, we just finished Fables a week or two ago; they had the Frog Prince at our library almost as soon as it'd come out.
My wife definitely likes comics; she'd filled in all my missing Alpha Flights from the 80s within weeks of meeting me. She's particularly X-men and Buffy-centric.
woah! just realized that Fables isn't over after all. Sound like vol. 11 will be under our tree as well...

Ruby: I am also very much enjoying the Buffy: Season 8 comic. No luck yet on getting the missus involved, although we were fans of the TV series. Might be a medium thing!
Yeah, my buffy-addicted stepmom is having the same medium-shift problem as your wife with season 8.
The new season of Angel's ok as well, or at least I want it to be-- the story's not 100% great but the premise is awesome!
