This is what blows my mind about Golden Age/Early Silver Age comics. It seems like they totally ran out of ideas REALLY QUICKLY. (Or they were on 'ludes, maybe.)
Then again, maybe this wild "creativity" beats the constant and drone of infinite crises, wars both secret & civil, world war IIIs & world war Hulks, JLA as Gods stories, and Avengers as the A-Team stories, and poor poor Daredevil spilling metaphorical hot drink after metaphorical hot drink in his lap.
All of which, I buy, read, and more or less enjoy.
Like Mark Waid said in his interview on Major Spoilers, maybe mainstream comics have successfully whittled down their fan base to a select group of people who will swallow anything. I actually pride myself on being able to swallow anything. Am I part of the problem?
