Excellent list! Though I think as of this decade the word "comprehensive" can no longer mean what it used to mean.
• Pygmy Jerboa music: Um. Wut?
• Monk Fish: That thing completely freaks me out to no end. I can pretty much deal with the rest on the list, but not this guy. That slowly swirling mist around him screams Pure Evil from Time Bandits to me.
• Malay Eagle Owl: This thing... I swear it reminds me of this horrible monster in an old Scooby Doo cartoon. It also looks animatronic. But then it turns out to be the most adorable bird, evar!
• I feel compelled to link to this guy.
I find all of these to be completely rad, and think its very speciesist to say these are fucked up looking. Humans are fucked up looking! Look how many there are of us, and how few of us have even remotely similar color patterns or faces! That's bad genetics if I ever seen it!
That Giant Isopod wakes up every day in the stygian depths it calls home and says "Hell yeah motherfuckers, I know how my shit works."
That Malay Eagle Owl. I want that thing so bad. I want to pet its head, hear it cackle, and feed it some terrified rodent right now.
Monkfish doesn't bug me so much. It's the soulless expression of the Giant Grouper, or this guy that leave me shivering. These things can eat people. Eat them.
I know that somewhere out there is somebody's (usually) Asian grandma who would look at that list and say "Oh! We eat those when I was small. They good you know! You kids now too choosy."
I like the critters. But then that's me.
Of course you like the critters, MRI! That's like your thing! Well...that and fetish objects, it seems.
Hey there's young Asian dudes who will eat stuff out of the Ala Wai Canal! I would be less choosy if for my damn shellfish allergy. Seriously dudes. Before my food allergy, I was voracious. Seriously.
