So, thing: what's kinda neat about 24 is that while the composition is pretty much exactly that of the original, the surface treatment is completely different. If these are reinterpretations, this one is very very focused. It makes some sense, because Jaime Hernandez is all about surface, and the graphic abstraction thereof.

Patrick Nagel is a little laughable at this point, but it's hard to argue that he and J. Hernandez weren't on similar paths. What you're doing here is applying the "natural media" approach, using, ironically, a tool that makes J. Hernandez's and Nagel's approaches obsolete--the home computer. With the proliferation of vector-based drawing tools, the average artist can achieve this '80s minimalism with a precision that makes the ink- and paint-work of J. Hernandez and Nagel seem almost laughable. And yet; you use the computer to achieve a more painterly effect, the artifacts of which these men struggled to avoid . . .

Um, discuss.
