All right, so we never got around to playing Middle Earth Risk, and I think Demon was involved in the Risk 2184 fiasco, where the whole energon cube thing nearly drove us insane. but here's something. Star Wars Risk looks promising. It's full of real places like Ord Mantel and Nar Shaddaa, and it's fully OT, focusing overmuch on the Death Star and undermuch on Gungans and Jango Fett.
I ran into Kelly S. at the zoo. We decided that we all should do something as nerdy as seeing Transformers opening night again, like; after we've put the kids to bed. This might qualify! I mean, until Starcraft 2 comes out.
Seems like this has a bunch of those confusing new shoehorned-in rules that are the hallmark of Parker Brothers' license-driven mods (the box includes a couple of eight-sided dice that you get to use when you've deployed Star Destroyers in the system), but hey, those can be fun; as long as we don't drink too much.
On the other hand, drinking too much and taking the wheel of the Death Star might be just the thing to chase the blues away!

sign me up...or down. w/e.
I remember that the reason we never got the LOTR one is cuz they didn't even bother putting Mordor or Rohan or something on the map! Who does that?!?
But I'm down for nerdy board games. I think I've got the old Risk lying around somewhere, and Illuminati, which I love, which I think GP hated. We should play that.
I wonder what the strategic planet to seize early in the game is? Not Alderaan, I imagine.
Not so much as hated, Fugu...Hate is such a strong word. more like "GP didn't really care for it." The idea was good, but the gameplay was sort of lacking. Perhaps because we didn't play with enough vigor.
We didn't play that with Mr. Chang, did we? Because that can color my attitude towards a game as well.
If I lose soundly the first time I play a game, it tends to leave me with a sour aftertaste. But hey, that's me.
I definitely have a copy of Risk hanging around. It's the one Mrs. Pony and Mrs. Panic used to ally and destroy the stupid menfolk with, remember?
Yeah, I remember, the Super-Deluxe Edition. Every piece comes in its own velvet bag.
Winning a game the first time out gets me excited about a game, but so does getting trounced so thoroughly that the backs of my knees are covered in blood.
I guess I just like practice rounds, is all.
so we up for round 2? This Friday night? This is GP since my identity isnt being recognized AGAIN.
I can do friday, but I have to start late. Saturday night might work, at my house, maybe?
Saturation Day is...possible. I think I can maybe. will have to look into it.
Either night is ok for me I think, tonight would be best, but prolly not if it's going to start late. I'll check with the macho-man as well.
Sat night i can do after 8 i think.
If do right, no can defense.
