Catan, the board game

Well that settles it, I'm interested. First Panic talks about this (although to be honest he rattles on about anything with hexagons), and now it's in WIRED as the "perfect German board game" and the "monopoly killer". I'm not sure what that means but it sounds awesome.

Anyone ever play this thing? More to the point, anyone have this and want to play?

I can confirm that this is reportedly the best game on the planet. One the planet Canada, it is refered to as "Settlers".

I just read that wired article yesterday in the obsolete tree-killing format. I was excited to see it. I've been intrigued by this game since my Californian cousin recommended it. I hear California is near Canadia, planetwise. Perhaps that's why my cousin knew of it.
I am excited about this. Especially while my sons are crying in the background as I type this.

Ms. Tigertail, here, infiltrating the online man cave.

Settlers of Catan is indeed one of the BEST games ever. I begged for the game long ago, but that line item was vetoed by the other half of the community. (The Mr. is pake.) Thus, we only play Settlers when we visit our friends who have the game. Alas, we no longer live near any friends who have it. Now I am sad for two reasons.

Buy it. Play it. Then help me lobby for my very own Settlers of Catan, so I can stop scheming to make my own game, complete with pasta for game board pieces.

I'll trade you two sheep for one wheat and one ore.

While I too want to purchase the game, I think Ms. Tigertail should make that game utilizing pasta shells and various other household knicknacks. To me that would be twice as rewarding.

Me too. Bring it on.

Me three! Who won? By this wanting of rematches, I'm guessing it was a Fugu blowout?

Nope, it wasn't. It was pretty close all around by the end but when they finally joined forces against the threat of the empire, it turns out that it was Leemyra, and they were too late.
